Shilajit is mentioned as a magical supplement in Ayurveda. According to Charak samhita, which is on the basis of Ayurveda, there is no disease in the world that cannot be cured by it. Charak samhita states that “All curable diseases in the universe can be effectively treated with silajeet when it is taken at the appropriate time, in combination with suitable drugs and by adopting the prescribed method”. Many people take it for health benefits such as boosting testosterone levels, strengthening of lungs and thereby aid the modern medicine in cure of breathing related disorders, strengthening bones and helping in conditions such as osteoporosis and also aiding in treatment of cognitive disorders. It is supposed to completely remove joint pains and is anti-ageing both mentally and physically.
